New Robin Tunney Interview for the French Magazine Télé 7 Jours
There is another new interview to Robin by the French magazine Télé 7 Jours. You can find the scans at the-mentalist.hypnoweb and you'll find right below the translation I did.
Accused of murder and imprisoned, Patrick Jane, The Mentalist, has paid a bail of 1 million dollar. He's back working for the CBI and at the same time he managed to bring back Teresa Lisbon, who had been suspended. During tonight's episode, they are going to investigate about a case involving a psycopath, the death of a young girl found on a beach.
Q: Patrick Jane found out that the man he killed wasn't Red John. Is Teresa shocked about this death?
RT: No. She represents the law, but there has always been a sort of "moral" deal between her and "the Mentalist", who has always been clear. He had told her that he was ready to avenge the death of his wife and child.
Q: How the relationship between Patrick and Teresa has evolved?
RT: Teresa, who has always been focused on her career, changed gradually her priorities. To help Jane, she took risks, also "flirting" with illegality. Jane has enroled her for his battle. It's Lisbon that works for him now, not the contrary.
Q: Is it true that you asked to give your character more layers, more substance?
RT: Yes, despite always remembering that she was Jane's superior, he ended up being right all the times. Teresa could look like a complete idiot, and that harmed the balance of the show. Now she is more flexible. She is the head of the team and she often takes the resposabilities, even if often Jane and Lisbon face together the absurdities of the bureaucracy.
Q: It was you who asked to wear a cross chain?
RT: No, it's a detail written by Bruno Heller, the show's Creator, and it is linked to the death of Lisbon's mother, who died when she was just a girl. My real mom is Irish and practicing. She adores that cross chain, at the point to say to her friends that it was me who wanted to wear it!
Q: Rebecca Rigg, Simon Baker's wife, has found your role more interesting that the one of her husband...
RT: Simon and Rebecca are a wonderful couple. In Hollywood, it's rare to see two people so in love after so many years. I adore them. At the time, I accepted the role on The Mentalist because I knew Simon had accepted his role. I knew he was going to be a caring working partner. That counts a lot when you spend 10 to 12 hours together, five days a week, for six or seven years.
Q: On "Prison Break", your character died during the first season. Do you think Teresa is going to survive long?
RT: I hope that she will make it to the end of the series, but I don't know that. You'll have to ask Bruno, or Simon!
Q: The series has a lot of success in France. Rumor has it that a couple of episodes could be shot in Paris. Do you know anything about that?
RT: More or less. Personally, I'd love it. If Simon has this idea on his mind, it's going to be a reality.
